Before the latest lockdown (and when it was warmer) I had started riding my bike regularly, and one of my routes took me along the Lancaster Canal. A beautiful stretch of canal and very tranquil, so I thought I would capture some of it in a tune.

Riding on the towpath
F Am7 Dm G
of the Lancaster Canal
C D/B Am
Past the boats and houses
F Am7 Dm G
And the views we know so well
C G
Come with me
F C
Come with me
C G C
Come with me my dear
From the bridge at the Hand and Dagger
Under the motorway pass
All along the waterway
through the reed and grass
Chorus
Bridge
F C
should we stop a while and tarry
G C
should we pause and take it in
F C G G7
should we sit and watch the boats float by
chorus
on the water ducks are teaching
all their young ones how to swim
All the swans glide by majestic’lly
and the coots are diving in
