I had the first 2 lines come to me when I was having a walk during my lunch break, I often go about a mile along a small footpath that leads on onto the estuary. There is a bench their and it is a beautiful spot overlooking where 2 rivers join.
My first attempt and the guitar part turned up 2 chords that sounded exactly like an 80s tune (much too close). I had been looking at my acoustic turned to DADGAD for a while and thought it would be good to fit one in using that, so here it is. I have no idea what the chords are. I dont know how to play chords in DADGAD so it is really liberating to just place my fingers and settle on things that sound nice.

DADGAD

1
When the sea recedes
2 3
And the water level
1
Drops
1 2 3
1
got a view for miles
on the salt flats birds are
wading
Got make the time to
step back from the edge
Need to slow it down
The time is quickly passing
2 3
Sit back on you bench and smile
2 3
Breath the air watch the clouds go dancing
can you feel the warmth
of the sunlight light through clouds
Close your eyes and
Feel the tension gently easing
round the field the hedge is
teeming with new life
From the birds and bees
to the fruits the world is giving
