On the sandy shore
where we once we played
I last did see my lady
was in early May
when the breeze was warm
that I last saw my love

we had come to spy
the open sea
and smell the sea air salty
if i knew my love
could not be saved
i never would have come

We walked the shore
our hand in hand
down to the rock pools dancing
while the gently waves
came crashing in
I held onto my dear

on the rocks so green
we played until
the evil wave came calling
it came crashing from
the murky mire
and took away my love

now I never can
to the shore line tarry
no never the beach to wander
when i lost my love
my heart was drowned
and washed into the sea
