Wrote and recorded 4 in 2 hours due to time constraints today. (so they are pretty shaky recordings). This one started a few days ago from the line from George Orwell “The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it.” I thought this would be a good basis for a song so made a note of it in my phone and then adapted it slightly for this song.
lyrics
The Truth
C
They tried to tell us
F
They spelt it out
C
We didn't listen
F
We didn’t want to know
Am F
The further we drift from the truth
Am F G
the more we hate those that speak it
We tried to accuse them
Of making up lies
Of being scaremongers
We didn't want to know
The further we drift from the truth
the more we hate those that speak it
How bad
Can it to get
How bad
Until we open our eyes
The further we drift from the truth
the more we hate those that speak it
